I Need Help Now
I'm experiencing a mental health crisis
If you are suicidal or feel that you can’t keep yourself safe then you need urgent help. Go straight to A&E if you can, or call 999. This kind of mental health emergency is serious.
If you are not sure what to do, then call NHS 111 or message NHS 111 online for advice.
You could also contact your GP to get an emergency appointment or you could go to an NHS urgent treatment centre (UTC), if you have one locally. The NHS has information about their UTCs.
I’m not in crisis but I need to talk to someone
If you can keep yourself safe for a while but you want to talk to someone then you could call:
-
The Samaritans: 116 123
-
C.A.L.L. (Wales only): 0800 138 737
Both phone lines are open 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.
You could contact the service that is currently supporting you through your Tend programme. It is likely that you will have a named contact and you could ask them for advice on support options. You might want to ensure that you have a name and contact details that are easily accessible.

I want to know how to prepare for a crisis in the future
Mind has a page on ‘planning for a mental health crisis’ that has:
-
Ideas for ways to get help and support during a crisis
-
Advice on how to make a person crisis plan
-
Information that will help you to make an advance statement, just in case you are worried that you won’t be able to make your own decisions in the middle of a crisis.
If you have a service supporting you currently it might be helpful to ask them to work with you to prepare for a crisis in the future.
It’s important to seek help. Don’t think you’re wasting anyone’s time. Mental health crises are serious and support is available. Whatever you are going through there are people who can face it with you, who will listen, who can help.
